Executive board

Filip Thon has been the President of RWE Polska since 1 January 2008.

In parallel, with effect from 1 January 2011 Filip Thon was appointed a Member of the Management Board responsible for sales and networks at RWE East, company managing Group's businesses e.g. in Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Turkey.

He is a Member of the Supervisory Board of RWE Transgas in the Czech Republic, Essent in the Netherlands and Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of VSE in Slovakia.

Filip Thon has been with RWE since 2004. Before joining RWE Polska, he was Vice Chairman of the Management Board of RWE Transgas in the Czech Republic, a leading company of the RWE Group with 2.3 million customers and 5,000 employees in the Czech Republic. Filip Thon was responsible for management of RWE’s gas commercial portfolio in the Czech Republic which included more than 3 billion Euros of revenue for the sale of more than 90 TWh of natural gas.

Formerly, he was a consultant at Accenture GmbH in Frankfurt am Main where he was engaged in projects related to the natural gas and electric power sectors. Filip Thon advised companies on their strategies and supported large European gas and energy companies in the execution of major restructuring and organisational change projects.

Filip Thon earned a Dipl Ing. on University of Chemical Technologies in Prague and  PhD in energy from the Technical University in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
